About

Hello!  My name is Denise Ottosen.  I am a clinical psychotherapist and counselor specializing in trauma, anxiety, health anxiety and interpersonal sensitivity including rejection sensitivity/rejection sensitive dysphoria. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Idaho.  I am a National Certified Counselor, an EMDR Certified Therapist and an EMDR Approved Consultant.

 

I also provide consultation for EMDR therapists working towards certification and for certified EMDR therapists working towards becoming Approved Consultants.
 

My therapeutic approach utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (which focuses on understanding your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in order to bring about desired change), Humanistic Theory (which looks at the whole person, the uniqueness of each individual, and which honors and respects each person’s experiences and perspectives), Solution-Focused Therapy (which concentrates on what you want to accomplish now and in the future and how to achieve that), and Transpersonal Therapy (which includes the human spiritual component, inner wisdom and the higher aspects of human experience and meaning).  I am also trained in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (which focuses on developing specific skills to improve relationships with yourself and others), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy which is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memory.
