Hello! My name is Denise Ottosen. I am a clinical psychotherapist and counselor specializing in trauma, anxiety and excessive worry, grief and loss, and interpersonal sensitivity, including rejection sensitivity and rejection sensitive dysphoria. I also support creative individuals who feel blocked in their creative process, helping them to move through obstacles and reconnect with their creative flow.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Idaho. I am also a National Certified Counselor, an EMDR Certified Therapist, and an EMDR Approved Consultant. In addition to providing therapy services, I offer professional consultation for EMDR therapists who are working toward certification, as well as for certified EMDR therapists pursuing designation as EMDR Approved Consultants.

My therapeutic approach integrates several evidence-based and holistic modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to create meaningful change; Humanistic Therapy, which emphasizes the whole person and honors the uniqueness of each individual’s experiences and perspectives; Solution-Focused Therapy, which centers on identifying goals and building practical steps toward meaningful progress; and Transpersonal Therapy, which incorporates the spiritual dimension of human experience, inner wisdom, and the search for deeper meaning. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which focuses on developing practical skills to improve emotional regulation and strengthen relationships with oneself and others. In addition, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, an evidence-based approach designed to reduce the distress associated with traumatic memories.
